Context

The control of flexural waves represents a scientific and technological challenge due to their fundamental scientific aspects and to the big amount of applications in mechanical engineering.

Acoustic black holes (ABH) and structured plates are nowadays systems that allows the control of this type of waves, showing possibilities ranging from the reduction of vibrations to the waveguiding, energy trapping and energy harvesting. The recent interest of the such structures is growing exponentially and different scientific communities as the one of the ABH and that of the structured plates are converging.

In this context this workshop aims to bring together skills and knowledge of the complementary communities of scientists working on ABH and structured plates. This workshop provides a framework for an efficient information exchange, helps to avoid duplication of research efforts and channels the work of groups involved in different projects towards this topic.

The workshop will be organized in two days with four structured sessions. Informal exchanges will be organized during the free time, between the speakers and the interested participants. In particular, scientific exchanges around live experiments or ilustrative videos showing experimental set-ups will be organized. Therefore discussions can be organized on the basis of real experimental situations. Poster sessions will be organized to encourage participants to present their works. During all the conference, photos and video will be taken.
